Start of summer

The summer has arrived The last couple of months were not good for trout fishing. Although I caught a couple here and there it was a mirror image of my winter fishing trips. Winter in my country was unuasual. Very little snow and temperatures never dropped below zero. No ice was forming on the lakes/river....

Tenryu Lunakia LKT79M
Review of the Tenryu Lunakia LKT79M

Tenryu Lunakia LKT79M Long story short this was my first premium fishing rod the Tenryu Lunakia LKT79M. Gave it to a friend for a day of fishing. He was an inexperienced angler. By accident he broke the rods upper part. Since then (around 2015) I have been searching for the same model. The rod even...

Winter trout fishing
Winter fishing for trout

2020 started of slow. Five fishing trips all with the same result. No trout, few bites and a lot of guesses why the fish are not biting. Finally on the sixth trip (in March, so technically spring) I catch the first trout of the season. Compiled a small video of my searches. Hope you enjoy.

Forest river
No trout

January 1st As tradition January 1st is spent trout fishing. Found a small river I have never tried, minimal info on the web, going in blindly. After a 40 minute drive of which 10 are on forest dirt roads I arrive. First impression - positive. Not shallow, not overgrown. Casting is not difficult, pleasant scenery....

Chub close up
Chub fishing

As the sun rises I prepare my kayak for a day of chub fishing. The plan is to target chub, before they become passive in the midday heat. In hand my trusty megabass shoreluck paired with a shimano vanquish 2000. As I head out water tension is disturbed by chub breaching the water surface. I...

Ito Craft Expert Custom 56ULX
Review of the Ito Craft Expert Custom 56ULX

Japanese lure fishing has deep traditions. Rivers of Japan are characterized by their short lengths and steep gradients. This is due to the narrow and mountainous topography of the country. This has carved a unique outlook on tackle and the process of trout fishing. Precise, sharp casts need finesse gear. Among top tier manufacturers one...

Winter trout
Overview of Winter

Winter trout fishing Winter is over, well sort of...the calendar indicates it is spring, but reaching hidden streams still requires trekking threw a snow covered forest floor. This winter has been challenging. 5 rivers fished, 22km of bank covered 5 lures left behind, with a tally of 5 trout. Some might think it is a...

Megabass Shoreluck XX SLX-83UL
Review of the Megabass Shoreluck XX SLX-83UL

I read about the Megabass Shoreluck XX SLX-83UL in a fishing forum, described as the ultimate rod for trout, I found one in the local classifieds and soon enough the rod was in my hands. An impulsive buy with zero regrets. Still one of my favorite and most used rods. At 252cm one might think...
